The Great Outdoors Nursery believes that
Xeriscape is a necessary trend in gardening that
will also provide the gardener with beautiful blooming and ornamental
plants. We have a strong conviction to conserve
our natural resources, especially water.
By combining native and adaptable plants in a xeric
environment, the nursery showcases ideas for the
homeowner. Our native cactus, agaves, yucca along with
shrubs, trees and perennials enables natural beauty all
the while encouraging the conservation of our precious
water. When we appreciate and respect where we live, we
can find the balance in ourselves and nature without the
loss of our enchanting land.
Deciding which plants to put
in an Albuquerque garden can be difficult at best.
The Great Outdoors Nursery is your locally owned nursery
that will provide you with healthy native and adaptable
plants. We are experienced and knowledgeable in
the xeriscape concept.
We look forward to seeing
you soon.
Look for more information
on gardening in the Local IQ Magazine. Tish

once a month. Her passion for gardening shows in
her writing.
Think Spring-It is
just around the corner.
Remember that now is the
time to begin cleaning out perennial beds, pruning dead
limbs from shrubs and trees and planning for new
arrivals to your landscape.
Ornamental grasses can be
clipped down to about 6" from the ground. Use vigorous
motion to clean the dead debris from the clump that is
left to promote new growth. This is also the time to
divide grasses. If the clump of grass is dead in
the middle and had only new growth around the outside
edge, dig the whole clump of grass out. Divide the
clump into sections with either a sharp shovel or
gardening knife and then plant each division where you
choose.
